  1. Ok so to be fair the majority of my stay would have been a 4. The room is spacious, the foyer area nice and the breakfast was pretty decent however I had a couple of very serious issues that were reported to the front desk and I was told to email them through. I did this twice and received no responses at all. Even from a follow up email. I also know that the email was correct as I had used it to email a document that they printed for me. Not happy at all!!!!!

  2. Best thing about our stay at the Mercure CARDIFF North was the breakfast, loads of choice of both hot and cold buffet, all fresh and replenished attentively. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself was ok- decent size, spotlessly clean and the shower was good. Generally the location was quiet, just a bit of a hum from the nearby A road, and well placed for the motorway and to get a cab into the city centre. There were things that could be improved – the room lighting (no central ceiling lights, just wall lamps, and the corner by the mirror required use of a torch as the lamp there didn’t work), and more storage for clothes (no drawers and the v limited hanging space was weirdly over the tea making facilities). The bed itself was far too soft for us, and the quilt far too warm, which made for poor sleep, but others may prefer it like that.

I went to this hotel for Christmas ,not again ,3 miles from Cardiff ,and motor ways all around. If it wasn’t being on a coach trip I could have escaped NO .The room sounded great no faulty plug socket cost me money, all 3 senior managers was on holiday. The one good thing was break fast, very good and tasty. Christmas lunch was the real joke no quality minimal levels ,and fit for nothing £2.00 in Iceland would be better and tasty FAILED.
The staff were clueless the ladies better than the guys .This place needs new managers 3 and the bosses go in and see what’s happening. If you have a car drive on by and get somewhere nice .Update the place and find out what should charged in the bar ,many people were charged different prices for the same drinks ..I may contact the head office to see what they think .The place could be good but the bosses need to see it .

  4. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The dining experience was fabulous. Friendly staff and very nice food at dinner. Breakfast was also very nice, a buffet breakfast.
My room was comfortable, with nice beds.
However some of the other guests were very noisy , with constant slamming of doors in the evening . Soft closing doors would really help. Also the international boys football squads staying there were very noisy at times, from my room i could hear them singing and chanting in their rooms.
I would have given a 5 if it wasn’t for the noise.

  5. Such a wonderful stay.
We arrived very late at night and we still had such a warm welcome.
I feel with hotels I have very high expectations and I have to say I was beyond impressed with everything from décor to service. The room was a lovely size, the bed was incredibly comfy and the bathroom was beautiful with it’s rainfall shower and touch light mirror. What I was surprised at was how quiet the hotel and room was for noise. Being so close to a main road I thought there would be some noise, but it was lovely and the blackout curtains where a lovely touch too. Brilliant if you wanted a nice lay in or early night.
The breakfast didn’t disappoint either. The variety was lovely and it all tasted amazing.
Overall I really enjoyed my stay. It was only short, but next time I will be sure to stay longer.
